Company profile
The dass IT was founded in 2004 by four
Senior Consultants of the SUSE LINUX AG. It started one of the
biggest Linux migration projects to this date in the same year. Since
then, the dass IT accomplishes projects with Open Source Software in
small and medium-sized enterprises, government agencies and corporate
clients. Their Team of high class Linux experts are qualified to put
the complete range of Open Source Software into practice. Main
activities are in the fields of systems management, scheduling and
execution of high availibility Linux server systems and the
integration of Linux servers and services into existing complex IT
infrastructures.
Strong partners like Novell, Red Hat,
Univention, SEP, GroundWork and OpenXchange are important to give the
customer the opportunity to order software and support from the
producer itself. The dass IT is one of the leading developers of the
open-source software Bareos.
The four Founders of dass IT
Stephan Dühr
Stephan Dühr completed an apprenticeship as a mathematical technician at the Distance Learning University Hagen. After that he worked as an organization programmer for ferrocontrol GmbH and as a Linux support technician at ID-PRO. Between 2001 and 2003 he was a system consultant for Suse Linux AG. During this time he was significantly involved in implementing the SmartClient Framework for the Debeka Insurance and the Stuttgarter Insurance. Today he is one of dass IT's managing directors.
Maik Außendorf
Maik Außendorf is a graduated mathematician and studied mathematics and informatics at the University of Münster. In his diploma thesis he focused on the implementation of an artificial neural network in C+ under Solaris and Linux. After his studies he worked as a SAP Consultant at Siemens AG in Colombia. Between 1999 and 2003 he was Linux System Consultant and branch manager at Suse Linux AG in St. Augustin. During this period he carried out Linux- based customer projects, starting from conception and implementation to project management. In addition, he is co-author of the Susepress Linux Manager Guide. Today he is one of dass IT's managing directors.
Jörg Steffens
Jörg Steffens studied informatics and and economics and holds a
master in informatics from the University of Bonn. His master thesis,
that was written in cooperation with the GMD - Research Center
for Information Technology, focuses on artificial intelligence and
robotics. After that he worked as a project manager and developer for
Mountside Software Engineering in the Netherlands. Between 2000 and
2003 he was Linux a system consultant at Suse Linux AG. During his time
Jörg Steffens created the architecture for the SmartClient System
and was as technical project manager responsible for the realization
at the Debeka and the Stuttgarter Versicherung. Today he is one of dass
IT's managing directors.
Philipp Storz
Philipp Storz holds a masters degree in technical computer sciences from the University of Applied Science of Cologne. His diploma thesis deals with power measurement and net monitoring at industrial a.c. systems with digital signal processors. After his studies he worked as an development engineer for hard- and software for a provider of data acquisition systems. Between 2001 and 2003 he was a consultant at Suse Linux AG in St. Augustin. Today he is one of dass IT's managing directors.
